Pierluigi Claps is full Professor of Water Engineering since October 2000 at the Politecnico di Torino. He received his PhD in 1990 (University of Naples). He has been President of the Scientific Society of Italian Hydraulic Engineering (GII) (2012-2016), President of the Scientific Committee of Hydroaid (2005-2015). Since 2009 he is member of the board of the Inter-University Consortium for Hydrology (CINID). His projects include Interreg III C Italy – Switzerland, Interreg IVC ALCOTRA, Italian Ministry of Research project CUBIST (2005-2009). His current interest involve the assessment and mapping of extreme rainfall at spatial resolutions ranging from local to mesoscale, including knowledge transfer through databases and web applications, and water-related global climatic and remote sensing data analysis.
