His research interests are in applications of Big Data and machine learning techniques for  applications to Cybersecurity, Internet Monitoring, Social Network Analysis, Predictive Maintenance, Anomaly Detection, Smart Mobility, etc. He has co-authored over 200 papers and holds 11 patents. He was awarded the IRTF Applied Networking Research Prize in 2013, and several best paper awards.  He is Area Editor of ACM CCR, and part of the Editorial Board of IEEE Transactions of Networks and Service Management and Elsevier Computer Networks, and part of the Steering Committee of ACM CoNEXT.

Within SmartData@PoliTO, he’s leading several collaborations with Huawei, Tierra Telematics, Enel Distribuzione, GM PowerTrain, FCA, and coordinating the H2020 project PIMCity. In the past, he collaborated with Cisco Systems, Narus Inc, Fastweb, TIM, Vodafone, Alcatel Lucent, NEC, and many others.
